World Emoji Day

Apple has been one of the companies that have gotten behind World Emoji Day. As a result, since 2017 they have been releasing their new emojis annually on July 17, to observe the unofficial celebration.  Emoji is from the Japanese for “picture word.”

Do you use emojis?  Do you think they help or hinder communication?  Before emojis were invented, we had certain logos that once viewed, we knew instantly what it was.  Think about the Nike “whoosh”.  A ‘happy face’ also was intended to communicate.  And we have the Pride flags.

For this July discussion, bring an idea for a new emoji, or tell about a logo or symbol that you find particularly meaningful.
