Cherries, watermelon, peaches and plums, the fruits of summer are sweet! Unless, of course, you bite into something that was picked too soon. For the next three Sundays, the Lectionary is serving up three of Jesus’ parables from Matthew 13. Rev. Jen Chapman will explore the idea of The parables which are meant to spice things up, to pack a punch, to be subversive and even disruptive, “tap[ping] into our memories, our values and our deepest longings” in her reflection “Food For Thought: The Indiscriminate Sower.” Tim K. Murphy will lead the ACC Ensemble through this week’s hymns and diverse musical selections from Vince Guaraldi, James Horner, Pete Seeger, & Stephen Sondheim. Faith Abel will light the candles for Ukraine and for those suffering from gun violence, as well as read Gathering Words & Scripture from Matthew 13:1-9, NRSVUE.
