Fourth Friday Fireside Film Festival: Harriet

  • Arlington Community Church 52 Arlington Avenue Kensington, CA, 94707 United States (map)

Harriet (2019).  If you’ve missed other FFFF presentations, don’t miss this one.  No film we have shown so illustrates the power of a faith-driven mission as does this biopic of Harriet Tubman.  Prepare for this one:  review her biography on Wikipedia or Britannica.  See the preview on YouTube.  Then join us.  Cynthia Erivo is Harriet Tubman for us in this time and place.

Here’s an anecdote that gives a hint of Harriet’s powerful character:  One of the fleeing slaves in her charge on the underground railroad wants to turn back: she points a gun at him and says, “You’ll be free or die.”

Please plan to arrive at about 1:30 to allow time to grab your popcorn and settle in before we start the film at 1:45, and, if your schedule allows, linger for a few minutes after to discuss the film.
