In-Person/Live-Stream Worship: Jesus and the Prophets: Something for Nothing

  • Arlington Community Church 52 Arlington Avenue Kensington, CA, 94707 United States (map)

We welcome all people to worship and prayer, and to be with us on our journeys of faith formation; join us as we experience the Divine One through Creation, Creatures, and Creativity in our world and worship.

In our August series, "Jesus and the Prophets" we'll look at how the life of Jesus resonates with the teachings and experiences of prophets like Isaiah and Elijah. This Sunday we'll listen to Isaiah who spoke of a God who offers something for nothing, and hear a story of Jesus and his disciples who, despite feeling like they had nothing to give, provide healing, food, and community for thousands. As an extension of this great feast, we'll receive communion. Guest musician, Frederick Hodges, will lead us through this week’s hymns and selections from Rudolf Friml. Susan Russell will sing the African-American Spiritual “Steal Away to Jesus” a cappella for this week’s Special Music. Tom Dean will light the candles for Ukraine and for those suffering from gun violence, as well as read Gathering Words & Scripture from Matthew 14:13-21, NRSVUE.
