Calling all pets of Kensington and their people! The Blessing of the Animals will once again be held alongside the Kensington Community Council’s annual picnic on Sunday, October 22nd from noon to 1pm (with a group blessing at 12:30pm). Bring your furry, feathered, or scaly family members to be blessed at this special annual event held at the park across from the community center.
You don’t need to be a person of any particular faith to know that our pets are a blessing! During this event we gather as a community to celebrate and express our gratitude for the many ways our pets enrich our lives. Arlington Community Church will be leading the blessing as we do each year, but with a few new features, like homemade pet treats with a recipe to take home, and an animal art activity. ACC’s new pastor, Jen Chapman, will be doing the blessing and is eager to meet the beloved pets of Kensington!
All animals are welcome! Please keep pets on a leash or in a carrier. If your pet doesn’t do well in crowds or isn’t well, feel free to bring a photo or something that belongs to your pet, like a collar, tag, or blanket. Children could even draw a picture of their pet to be blessed.
For the group blessing, animals and their humans should gather at 12:30pm on the south end of the lawn, just outside the Recreation Building.
