You are invited to join us on the third Friday of every month as Pastor Barbara leads us in Lectio Divina at 4:00 via Zoom. While Lectio Divina (Latin for "Divine Reading") is a traditional contemplative way of reading the Bible dating back to the 6th century, it is also a delightfully new way for ACC folks to interact with Scripture.

The structure includes a rhythmic reading of a scripture passage leading into meditating and praying on the text. We will read the same text three times. After the first reading you will be asked if anything captures your imagination or heart. The second reading will to promote us to meditate on what God is saying to you. The third reading will ask us how God is speaking to our hearts and in what ways we are being called to respond to God’s still speaking voice.

Lectio Divina is different from a traditional Bible study in that we are not asking what any particular text means, but rather how the text is speaking to you. Lectio Divina is designed to lead us into communion with God and to have a personal experience with the Word. As one practitioner wrote: “Lectio divina is not about interpreting the text; it’s about the text interpreting me.”
