In-Person/Live-Stream Worship: “The Most Generous Interpretation”

  • Arlington Community Church 52 Arlington Avenue Kensington, CA, 94707 United States (map)

As we approach Martin Luther King Jr. Day and the presidential inauguration, on this second Sunday after the Epiphany we come to an interesting story in the gospels, the story of Jesus’ first miracle in the gospel of John at the wedding in Cana. As we continue with our sermon series “Good Inside: The Gospel According to Dr. Becky” we’ll notice the relationship dynamic between Jesus and his mother. Both in this story and in Martin Luther King Jr.’s “Letter From A Birmingham Jail” we find Dr. Becky’s principle of The Most Generous Interpretation at work. This Sunday we’ll consider how this principle can guide us both in our closest relationships and as we long for justice in our nation.

We’ll enjoy music this Sunday by the ACC Ensemble, directed by Tim K. Murphy. Rev. Jen Chapman will preach and lead the service, and Nick Crump will serve as Liturgist.
