“I am the church, you are the church, we are the church together!”
On Saturday, October 12th, from 9am to 3pm, all ACC members and regular attenders are invited to gather for our next Focus Retreat. Our time together will begin with spiritual grounding and include opportunities for prayer, fellowship, discussion, and collaboration as we come together to think deeply about who we are and what we’re called to do and be as a church.
In August of 2023, at our first Focus Retreat, after spending time assessing various vision statements of our church, our values and strengths, and the needs of our congregation and wider community, participants came up with three goals to focus on together for the three years of Pastor Jen’s designated term.
1) To nurture spiritual vitality in our congregation that leads to peace, joy, and transformation.
2) To become a recognizable positive presence in the community, offering tools for spiritual growth and support for the journey
3) To dig deeper into what it means to be stewards of creation
At the follow up retreat in November, teams brainstormed ideas to begin working toward those goals. When we gather this October, we’ll revisit our vision and values, as well as the goals we set, celebrating the ways we have begun working toward them, and considering what next steps we would like to take in the year ahead.
Every member and attender of ACC is an important part of the church, an important part of our discernment, our seeking of the Spirit’s guidance, and our embodiment of our values and mission. “I am the church, you are the church, we are the church together!” Your presence, perspective, voice, and ideas are needed! Please mark your calendar and plan to join us.
