We are calling a short congregational meeting at the request of Moderator, Faith Abel. The meeting will take place on March 26th immediately following worship. It is to vote on a resolution draft that would go to the 2023 Annual Gathering of the Northern California Nevada Conference of the UCC. You will be provided with a copy of the full initial version of the resolution as it has been sent to the Annual Gathering Business Committee. You are invited to read the entire proposal and ask any questions you may have. We have the opportunity to be the originating congregation for this resolution because the Black Wealth Builders Project started at ACC. The meat of the resolution is found on the last page in the following paragraph:

THEREFORE, we, the members of the Northern California Nevada Conference of the United Church of Christ resolve to invite all congregations and ministries within our Conference to take specific action to become a Black Wealth Builders Congregation in a manner suitable for each specific congregation in their respective locations within the Conference.

Our Congregational vote is to decide whether to sponsor this resolution which encourages the Conference to determine and implement a mechanism whereby churches can study and decide whether to become Black Wealth Builders Congregations similar to the process of becoming an Open and Affirming Congregation. Two spectrums will be held prior to the meeting to explain and answer questions about what the resolution asks of the Conference on March 12 and March 19.
