Q: What does the Cal football stadium and Kensington have in common?
A: Blake Gardens
The garden's development began in the early 1920′s. Mr. and Mrs. Anson Blake, of Berkeley, sought a new site for their home to make way for the university’s proposed football stadium to be built at the entrance to Strawberry Canyon.
This beautiful and historical location is literally in the church’s backyard. Join us on Thursday, June 10th at 10am at Blake Gardens for a quiet walk. Recently re-opened to visitors, we encourage you to get out in nature and enjoy the views from the paths in the garden.
NOTE: facemasks required; leashed dogs OK. If you haven’t been there, some paths are quite steep. You can still walk on the upper paths with ease, however, and there are several benches for a sit-down.
Meet at the entrance off Rincon Road. Bonus: the Carmelite Monastery is nearby if you would like to add a little to the walk.
